Unusual Spring Storm
Wow. Big winds! Big ocean waves. Here on the coast at Emerald Isle-Beaufort-Morehead City, same from Cape Hatteras to Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach - 25 to 40 mph winds the last three days. Gusts last night to dawn to 50-55 mph continuing into late morning this Monday. 30 ft to 40 ft. waves 15 to 20 miles offshoreHigh, grey overcast skies. The entire month of April was beautiful - but oh so windy! Unusual. Coast Guard had to make two dramatic rescures, two separate sailboats, one 160 miles east of Cape Hatteras and another 60 miles off of the Diamond Shoals southeast of Cape Hatteras. I took my digital still-camera over to the beach. 25 teenagers out there in 10-12 ft. waves coming onto the beach, wet-suits and all that. 40 mph winds made it feel cold on shore. Water temp they told me was 70 degrees. Kinda-Cozy. What? I am taking my video camera over there in the early AM.
